As you're probably aware, we are an island, but who isn't?I'll be adding some more info about travel to the Vineyard, but here are some links that should hold you for now.

Here's a word to the wise about the Ferries - Starting MAY 21, 2008 the Steamship Authority will open service to Oak Bluffs, in addition to their year-round service to Vineyard Haven. The trips alternate between the two destinations. This can mess you up if someone is picking you up, or if you're departing the island. It messes me up, and I live here. To make matters more *interesting*, we have a big bridge project happening on Beach Rd.

UPDATE: Beach Rd. bridge project is (*Gasp!*) running LATE of schedule! How could this happen in Massachusetts?!?!

So...If you suddenly find that you're at the wrong dock in the wrong town, you're probably not going to make it.Planning ahead and knowing that you need this information will hopefully help you avoid delays & freak-outs.
